Well, the particular recent case I was thinking of, telling the absolute truth would not only hurt the person, but she wouldn't really be able to grasp the reasons behind it and the end result would be hurt feelings and as well as not getting the ne…

I am oneof those people who absolutely cannot lie-I am terrible at it, being dishonest. But I think a "little white lie" is sometimes called for, as long as in the long run, nobody gets hurt by it. Also, not being forthcoming can be seen as a lie, h…

I've been thinking about this one a lot lately.  Integrity is important to me and I find it hard to put things forth that aren't quite true, but sometimes I find that what is generally characterized as a "little white lie" actually works best for ev…

Yes, you are exactly right. I was reading it in a hurry and kind of attributed other things.

I was looking at the first one as it is easy to be in charge while everything is going ok, but when things start going downhill, it is a whole different story.

Brittany, thanks for being H's learning partner. I think you are right about the time. Didn't you start with him in first grade? Now he's in 6th, so 5 years or so. I do agree with Charlotte that balance is the key. Obviously some thinking about the…

I like them both. The Danish one is kind of like the idea of the armchair quarterback or 20-20 hindsight. The one from Proverbs is really cool too.

Where there is no vision, the people perish. -Proverbs 29:18 For some reason, it won't let me put this in my discussion, so am adding it as a comment.

I don't think you should be so hard on yourself. Believe it or not, I find most people do as you do, I know I do, live and plan for the future, and remember the past. There really is nothing wrong with that in my humble opinion, as long as you remem…

Virus Threat

A virus can be a serious threat to the world but just like dengue, vigilance can be the answer for its extinction. People should know what to do before, during and after dengue breakouts. We shouldn’t panic and let fear ruin our mindsets to think clearly and realize what we need to do to survive and surpass a disease. Also, our hospitals need to be prepared for anything. They need to be fully equipped on any disease that might resurface anytime, anywhere. Hospitals should have their own tools to… Continue

The Door(Behind the Walls of Autism)-a poem I wrote for an awareness project I'm working on.

The Door
(Behind the Walls of Autism)
By: Brittany Bell

I can see it. I see the door. I don’t know what is behind the door, but it’s gripping my attention. Closer. Closer. I shouldn’t open that door without mommy or daddy here; but, all of the sudden I am alone. They’re not here. Nope. Nothing but this door. I opened it.

It shuts behind me on its own with a quiet-like slam. I didn’t touch it, the door just closed. I reached back for the handle, scared of the loneliness I felt. It was locked. I… Continue

Everywhere I Go, There I Am

I noticed him almost immediately out of the corner of my eyes. Pacing in circles, fiddling with his hands as much as he could contain himself. My family and I had just finished dinner at the Reston Town Center in the DC area, and stumbled upon the Light the Night celebration, an organization that raises money for the research of leukemia and other cancers, focused on children.
Stepping out of the restaurant, we heard music-we followed the sound of rock and roll to the covered pavillion and disco… Continue

SE Women's Herbal Conference

Spent the weekend at an all womyn's herbal conference! What a lot of information I got! Was able to hear Susun Weed speak on the "7 Medicines" - quite interesting and useful, learned more about making lotions, creams, & salves, and heard a fabulous talk on how to take herbs "Beyond Tinctures" - you can put medicinal herbs into anything - just eat them!! Inspired me to make a pesto last night of dandelion, parsley and spinach (and garlic and olive oil, of course!) Going back to drinking my in… Continue

Lin

Going to be missing for a few weeks.

Well it is that time of year for my vacation & entertaining friends & family. As of this Wednesday I will not be on much, then will be gone for 13 days. If I can check in I will. After that I have my sister-in-law & her husband coming to visit for 2 weeks.

This is my busy time of the year when I come up with interesting meals, deserts & try not to do the same meal twice! I also get to go out to eat too which is nice:)

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
